ABOUT ME
I grew up in a small town in upstate New York and am the youngest of six children. Growing up I was an athlete and avid outdoorsman. My love for the outdoors pushed me to pursue my degree in wilderness recreation and outdoor leadership in Saranac Lake, NY.
In 2009 after countless failed attempts I made the decision to put down drugs and alcohol. Something about this time was different, I wanted to change and was willing to take suggestions. One of these suggestions was to help another addict or alcoholic. I quickly found that I had a passion for helping others. This led me to pursuing a career in recovery and devoting myself to helping others who struggle with substance abuse and mental health.
My introduction to the field was at a reputable sober living in Asheville, NC. Early on I realized the importance of providing quality care to not only the clients in the program but also providing support for their parents and loved ones. For 5 years I worked hand in hand with clients and their families to help set goals, set boundaries, manage expectations, obtain employment, navigate the judicial system, enroll in college, graduate high school or get a GED and most importantly learn to have fun again! I have found nothing to be more rewarding than seeing that moment when the light bulb goes on and hope is restored.
In 2018 I became the director of an outpatient clinical program that offered PHP, IOP, medication management and supportive housing.
I have an empathy for the challenges of change. I have the skills, experience, education, patience, and compassion to help individuals launch into a life beyond their wildest dreams.
I’d love to help you find your new path. See how you can work with me to discover how to live with light.

"George has a natural ability to diagnose routes of sobriety. The recovery world is complex, and I’m grateful he was around to narrow down not only my path of treatment, but also my general outlook on the future.."

"I met George when I was homeless and trying to get clean from a 20 year battle with heroin and pretty much every other substance. It was my millionth time attempting to get clean and I was below rock bottom once again. I felt defeated and useless and could not have cared less if I woke up the next day. George taught me how to organize my life and introduced me to a schedule. Eventually I learned how to appreciate life again. George helped me find some purpose in my life. I not only have been clean for 2 years now, but I look forward to waking up everyday. This homeless drug addict that lost everything and everyone now has an incredible relationship with his family that he thought would never talk to him again. I have a full-time job and Im also in graduate school with a full-time schedule, pursuing my Masters Degree in Social Work. I’m clean, I’m happy and I have purpose in my life. It was not easy to get here, but George taught me how to set goals and encouraged me to do what it takes to achieve them. To this day, I still stay in contact with him and he’s the first person I reach out to when I need a letter of recommendation. He knows better than anyone what I had to do to get here and how hard I had to fight. I value our relationship greatly. I would recommend him to anyone that is serious about changing their life and needs guidance from someone that has been through it and knows what it takes."

"My first meeting with George was 5 years ago when I delivered my son to a sober living house in Asheville, NC. George was the house manager at that time. I knew immediately that my son, as well as our family, were in caring and competent hands. Each week he would communicate with our family, addressing problem areas with possible solutions, and always finding some positive progress. Over the years we have continued to stay in touch and consult George with issues relating to substance use, addiction, and mental health. His strong organizational and problem-solving skills have made him a mentor, partner, cheerleader and a leader in the recovery and mental health community."
